Introducing Placements.io Copilot: AI That Actually Gets Ad Operations

We're excited to announce the launch of Copilot, our AI assistant explicitly designed for the operations of ad buying and selling. After months of development and testing with our beta users, Copilot is now available to transform how you manage campaigns, analyze performance, and streamline your daily workflow.

Why We Built Copilot

If you've ever found yourself clicking through countless screens to create a campaign, manually pulling reports for the third time in a week, or constantly switching between tabs to check inventory availability, you know the pain points we set out to solve. Ad operations is complex enough without technology getting in the way.

Traditional ad tech tools make you adapt to their interfaces and workflows. We took a different approach: what if the software adapted to how you naturally think and communicate? That's the core philosophy behind Copilot.

What Makes This Different

It Speaks Your Language: Instead of learning complex interface patterns, just tell Copilot what you need. "Create a campaign for Johnson Automotive with a $125K budget running March 1-31 across GAM and Facebook" gets you a complete campaign structure in seconds.

It Understands Context: When you're looking at a specific campaign and ask it to "optimize this campaign," Copilot knows exactly what you're referring to. No need to repeat campaign names or navigate back to search results.

It’s built-in: AI is being implemented across the platform to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. For example, machine learning enhances revenue forecasting, and intelligent OCR supports invoice reconciliation. Each implementation adds value and empowers the user experience.

It Learns Your Business: The more your team uses Copilot, the better it becomes at understanding your specific processes, naming conventions, and common requirements.

Real Examples from Our Beta Users

Campaign Creation in Under 30 Seconds Sarah, a Campaign Manager at a mid-size agency, used to spend hours setting up each new campaign. Now she types: "Create a campaign for TechCorp, $80,000 budget, April 15 - May 15, focusing on enterprise software targeting." Copilot builds the framework instantly, and she can refine details with follow-up requests like "shift 60% of budget to LinkedIn" or "add West Coast geo targeting."

Performance Monitoring That Actually Monitors Instead of manually checking dozens of campaigns every Monday morning, Account Director Mike now asks: "Show me campaigns underperforming this week for automotive clients." Copilot surfaces the issues that need attention, complete with suggested optimizations.

Revenue Reporting Without the Spreadsheet Gymnastics "What's our delivered revenue for Q1 versus booked?" gets Finance Manager Lisa the exact breakdown she needs for board presentations, without exporting data and building pivot tables.

The Features That Matter Most

Intelligent Campaign Building

Copilot doesn't just create campaigns; it suggests optimal budget allocation across platforms based on your historical performance and/or current inventory. Tell it your goals, and it builds a strategic foundation you can customize.

Proactive Performance Insights

Rather than reactive reporting, automated performance monitoring catches issues and Copilot can recommend optimizations. When teams are juggling multiple campaigns and hundreds of line items, this prevents performance from falling through the cracks.

Workflow Intelligence

From approval bottlenecks to ticketing priorities, Copilot helps you stay on top of operational tasks that can derail campaign performance. It understands the interconnections between different aspects of your workflow and can easily surface any pending workflows.

Contextual Knowledge Base

Ask about best practices, platform specifications, or troubleshooting steps, and Copilot provides relevant, actionable guidance tailored to your current situation.

Getting Started: What We've Learned

Through our beta program, we've identified the patterns that lead to the most successful AI adoption:

Start Small, Think Big: Begin with routine tasks like campaign creation or basic performance checks. As you get comfortable with how Copilot responds, expand to more complex multi-step requests.

Be Conversational, But Specific: You don't need to learn command syntax, but including key details (advertiser names, budget amounts, date ranges) in your initial request saves time on follow-ups.

Use Your Current Context: When you're already viewing a campaign or advertiser, reference "this campaign" or "this account" in your requests. Copilot understands what you're looking at.

Iterate and Refine: Think of conversations with Copilot like collaborating with a colleague. Start with your initial request, then refine with follow-ups like "make that budget split 70/30 instead" or "focus the targeting on major metropolitan areas."

Here are some prompt examples:

  1. Discoverability
    • "What are some example prompts that I can use?"
  2. Campaign Creation (Campaign Builder)
    • "Create a campaign for [advertiser name], with a budget of [budget amount], starting on [start date] and ending on [end date]." After the campaign options have been created, you can adjust them using natural language.
    • "Shift more budget to [Facebook, GAM, etc.]."
  3. Performance Monitoring
    • "Show campaigns that are under-performing this week."
  4. Revenue Reporting
    • "What is my booked revenue for May 2025?"
    • "What is my delivered revenue for Q1 2025?"

What's Next

This launch represents the foundation of our AI strategy, not the destination. We're already working on advanced features like predictive campaign optimization, automated anomaly detection, and intelligent inventory forecasting based on early user feedback.

Our development philosophy remains the same: AI should eliminate busywork and surface insights, not replace human expertise and strategic thinking. The goal is to give you more time for the high-value activities that drive real business results.

Ready to Experience the Difference?

Copilot is available now for all platform users. We recommend starting with simple requests to get familiar with the interface, then gradually incorporating it into your daily workflow.

We're excited to see how Copilot transforms your ad operations experience. As always, your feedback drives our roadmap, so please share your experiences, suggestions, and feature requests as you explore what AI can do for your business.

Try asking Copilot "What can you do?" or "Show me example prompts" to discover capabilities and get started with your first AI-powered campaign management experience.
